Topic: LSOA population estimates of the very old

1.  LSOA population estimates of the very old

Posted Jan 02, 2014 12:17 PM
With the advent of the new European Standard Population there has been some interest in breaking down the existing LSOA population estimates (for England and Wales) to provide detail on the 90-94 and 95-plus age groups (rather than just 90-plus as currently published).

We have now published a research paper looking at this question at

http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide-method/method-quality/specific/population-and-migration/pop-ests/index.html

(the document is the first link from that page).

Any comments on the proposed methods are very welcome (contact details are included in the paper).

Pete
