Today ONS has published 'Measuring National Well-being - Children's well-being 2013' which reports that 89% of children said they were relatively happy with their lives overall and 4% were relatively unhappy.  The analysis also found that boys were more likely than girls to report being happy with their lives, their friends and their appearance while girls were more likely to report being happy with their schoolwork. This article uses data from the Youth Module of Understanding Society, the UK Household Longitudinal Study.
