The Statistics User Forum (SUF), supported by the Office for National Statistics, aims to be the strategic voice of users of official statistics. The Forum acts as an umbrella organisation for user groups, each of which covers a particular area across the spectrum of official statistics. Through the Forum we enable open and constructive dialogue between users and producers of official statistics and encourage communication across the user community.

    UPDATE: ONS' Integrated Data for Population Statistics Conference 2018


    The Office for National Statistics' free to attend Integrated Data for Population Statistics Conference 2018 will take place on 9 and 10 July at the University of Surrey.


    The theme of the event will be: Integrated data – Combining data to answer society's biggest questions.


    We'd love to see you there if you're interested in:


    • integrated data and the 2021 Census
    • statistics using alternative data sources
    • methods to combine and link different types of data for population statistics


    On day 1, we'll cover 2021 Census updates including the use of integrated data. Day 2 will be about the challenges and opportunities of integrated data.


    We can now confirm some of our key speakers throughout the conference:


    • Marina Pérez Julián from the Spanish Statistical Office will be talking about Spain's 2021 Census, which is going to be based on administrative sources.
    • Stephen Penneck, Chair of the International Statistics Institute (ISI) Advisory Board on Ethics, will talk about some of the ethical implications around integrated data.
    • Ruth Gilbert, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology, Deputy Director for the Administrative Data Research Centre for England.
    • Professor Mark Elliot, University of Manchester, founder of the Confidentiality and Privacy Research Group (CAPRI).
    • Dr Kerina Jones, Associate Professor of Health Informatics, Founding Editor in Chief, International Journal of Population Data Science (IJPDS).
    • Iain Bell, Deputy National Statistician, and other ONS experts will outline what integrated data means for ONS and provide updates of some of the work ONS have been doing.
