The Statistics User Forum (SUF), supported by the Office for National Statistics, aims to be the strategic voice of users of official statistics. The Forum acts as an umbrella organisation for user groups, each of which covers a particular area across the spectrum of official statistics. Through the Forum we enable open and constructive dialogue between users and producers of official statistics and encourage communication across the user community.

    HESA's Official Statistics release, Non-continuation: UK Performance Indicators 2016/17 is published as an open data release with a national level summary and statistics for each higher education provider.

    • The proportion of first degree entrants not continuing into their second year has been calculated each year since 1997/98 ranging between 5.7% and 7.9%
    • 10.5% of UK domiciled full-time students starting first degree courses in 2015/16 were projected to leave higher education at some point without gaining a qualification

    • 6.4% of young UK domiciled entrants to full-time first degree courses in 2015/16 did not continue into their second year. Figures for individual HE providers ranged from 0.8% to 19.5%.
