The Statistics User Forum (SUF), supported by the Office for National Statistics, aims to be the strategic voice of users of official statistics. The Forum acts as an umbrella organisation for user groups, each of which covers a particular area across the spectrum of official statistics. Through the Forum we enable open and constructive dialogue between users and producers of official statistics and encourage communication across the user community.

    Dear All,

We welcomed Tom King, secretary of the RSS Special Interest Group on Data Ethics, to the SUF meeting in November 2018 and agreed to keep in touch on this rapidly growing topic. Tom has alerted me to the attached paper that the RSS SIG has now produced. Please send any comments on this initial view of the data ethics landscape to the RSS SIG committee here.

I envisage that we will include discussion of developments in data ethics at one of our SUF meetings during 2019. Please post your thoughts on the key issues for statistics users as a response to this posting.

    Thanks,

    Paul
