2011 Census

I would be grateful for advice on which Census table  provides/will provide ward level population data for Birmingham, many thanks

Any/a combination of these three should be what you are looking for,

-Table PP04 2011 Census: Usual resident population by five year age group, wards in England and Wales

-Table PP05 2011 Census: Male usual resident population by five year age group, wards in England and Wales

-Table PP06 2011 Census: Female usual resident population by five year age group, wards in England and Wales

Note that for Birmingham and many other councils, the 'ward' data supplied by ONS does not relate to exact spatial boundaries but to 'Best Fit' Aggregations of Census Output Areas.
